Weekend Get Away

We had a three day weekend, so we decided to head for the Oregon coast for a few days. We walked along the beach, went to the kite festival, and the aquarium, and had a great time whale watching. The ABC family joined us on Saturday and that made it even more enjoyable. Here is a picture of Brooke showing us her new "sunflower" outfit. She sure looked cute!

Here Brooke is working hard to get her kite to fly. She did a great job and flew it proudly.

Cheridy and Amas picked up this kite at Costco and it was a hit with everyone.

The Cat in the Hat joined us on the beach flying his own kite. However he somehow managed to get all tangled up with another kite and it was a "hoot" watching him get untangled. I later learned that it was Rokkaku Battle competition -- individuals compete to "cut" or "ground" opposing kites. All contestants fly together. The winner is the last individual with a kite remaining in the contest.
